Curtis Salgado Medical Fund Established

Blues singer and harmonica ace Curtis Salgado will undergo surgery to remove a cancerous growth from his left lung on July 18, 2012. The surgery will involve a piece of Salgado’s lung being removed and will take place in Portland, Oregon. He had previously undergone a similar procedure in 2007.

Curtis Salgado will remain in the hospital for a number of days after his surgery, and will be required to take time off from performing and recording to recuperate. his doctors do, however, expect him to make a full recovery. He had previously underwent successful liver transplant surgery in 2006, along with having the aforementioned mass removed from his lung in 2007.

In a statement to fans, the 58-year-old Curtis Salgado said “I am extremely grateful for the overwhelming support of my family, friends and fans and the courageous people that have faced this fight before me. I also want to thank the promoters and venues for their understanding regarding my medical situation. We will do our best to reschedule all of our performances affected by my surgery.”
