The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer

Shawn Hall is one half of the Canadian Blues duo The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, playing harmonica and singing alongside guitarist Matthew Rogers. The pair are building a fast following with their truly original take on classic Blues styles. Deeply influenced by legends like BB, Freddie, and Albert King, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and Willie Dixon, the guys approach their music with a completely do-it-yourself method.

Shawn Hall joined Johnny Full-Time on the telephone to discuss The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer name, their music, the new album Checkered Past, and when fans in the US might expect to see the band live. There’s also music from the band featured throughout the program, as well as legends Bo Diddley and Terry & McGhee. Check out their website – HarpoonistAxeMurderer.com

This week’s selection from inside “Johnny’s Mailbox” is “Glass House,” from Albert Cummings’ new record No Regrets, which is available now. For complete information, visit AlbertCummings.com
