Eric Clapton has announced his Spring 2013 US Tour dates, with the tour winding down in a big way – at New York City’s Madison Square Garden for Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013! This will be the fourth Crossroads festival and it marks the first time since 2004 that the event will be held over the course of more than one day.
The Crossroads Guitar Festival began in 2004, and the first event was held in Dallas, Texas. The festival was designed to gather Eric Clapton’s friends and the greatest guitar players of all genres in an effort to hold a huge concert raising funds for Clapton’s Crossroads Antigua Treatment Center. The event was originally considered a one-off blowout, but the response was so overwhelming that the event was held again in 2007. The 2007 Crossroads festival was held outside of Chicago, and was shortened to one day. Clapton said at the event he considered it being the last one, but thought they would probably do it again. Three years later, at the same venue, they did.
In 2013, Eric Clapton will assemble the top guitarists in the world once again, this time for a two-night extravaganza on April 12 & 13. Past performers like B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Robert Cray will keep their streak of consecutive Crossroads concerts in tact, and past favorites like Jeff Beck and Gary Clark Jr. will return. In addition, there will be a few new faces, including Country music superstars Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.
General public on-sale for tickets to Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 begin November 30, 2012 at Noon EST. Complete festival information is available at CrossroadsGuitarFestival.com
