Nearly all of the songs from this album have appeared on Stevie Ray Vaughan greatest hits packages at one point or another. The 30th anniversary edition of Texas Flood will feature all of the album’s original 10 songs, and the bonus song “Tin Pan Alley (aka Roughest Place in Town.) The second disc will feature a concert recording of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Live at Ripley’s Music Hall, Philadelphia, October 20, 1983.

The story behind Texas Flood gave the album legendary status before it was ever released. The demo session for the album were recorded over three days by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble inside Jackson Browne’s California studio. Jackson Brown offered the session time to the band free of charge after catching their set at the 1982 Montreaux Jazz Festival. Those demos were heard by John H. Hammond, legendary producer and record scout, who brought Stevie Ray Vaughan, Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon to Epic Records, where they were signed in short order. Epic remastered the demo and packaged the tracks as Texas Flood June 13, 1983.
