The 30th International Blues Challenge saw the largest field of talent in the event’s history. It was regarded by some as one of the deepest fields the IBC had ever seen. The competition was fierce, but when the dust settled Mr. Sipp “The Mississippi Blues Child” and his band took home top honors. Mr. Sipp entered the competition representing the Vicksburg Blues Society.

Ghost Town Blues Band, representing the Memphis Blues Society, finished in second place in the band category. Third place went to Billy the Kid & the Regulators, who came bearing the banner of the Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania.

Tim Williams from the Calgary Blues Music Association is the big winner in the Solo/Duo category at the 2014 IBC. Lucious Spiller took home second place, representing the Ozark Blues Society of Northwest Arkansas Inc.

The specialty awards for the International Blues Challenge honor the men and women regarded as the most impressive guitar and harmonica players. Mr. Sipp also won the Gibson Guitarist award for top guitarist amongst the band finalists. Tim Williams captured the St. Blues Guitarist award for the best guitarist amongst the Solo/Duo finalists. Jerome Godboo (Toronto Blues Society) was awarded with Lee Oskar Harmonica Player of the year.
