Dayton has a rather active Blues scene, thanks in part to the Dayton Blues Society. They recently held their International Blues Challenge qualifier and the winners were The SoulFixers and Chris Yakopcic. Chris is releasing a new album this fall, tentatively titled The Next Place I Leave, and this episode features a world premier of the title cut! The featured selection from inside “Johnny’s Mailbox,” this week, is “Her Good Lovin” by John Nemeth. It comes off his brand new album Memphis Grease. For this new record, John teamed up with Scott Bomar and the highly touted Memphis band The BoKeys, and recorded on 8-track analog tape in Scott’s studio. The result is a record that will stand as a watershed in John’s career, and will likely be remembered as one of the best Blues albums of this generation, at the very least.
